Ministry of Education launched the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22

The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar has been instituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene practice in schools. The purpose of the SVP is to honor schools that have undertaken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of the Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign. SVP is based on IT enabled assessment of WASH infrastructure, hygienic practices and COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.


Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar was launched in 2016-17 with the following key objectives

To recognize, inspire & celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene.

To honor schools that have undertaken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of the Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign & adhering to the standards of hygiene & cleanliness.

Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22 : Minister of State for Education, Subhas Sarkar has launched the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) 2021 – 2022 virtually. The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar recognises, inspires and awards schools that have undertaken exemplary work in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene while also providing a benchmark and a roadmap for schools to make further improvements in future. The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar was first distributed by the Department of School Education and Literacy, in 2016-17 to create self-motivation and awareness about sanitation.

Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya, (SBSV)

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in schools play a significant role in determining the health of children, attendance, dropout rate and learning outcomes. The provision of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in school secures a healthy school environment and protects children from illness (including COVID-19) and exclusion. It is a first step towards a healthy physical learning environment, benefiting both learning and health. In 2014, Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya (SBSV) initiative was launched to ensure that all schools in India have access to separate functional toilets for boys and girls. The initiative lays emphasis on promoting safe and appropriate hygiene practices in schools and behaviour among children.

How to apply Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22 ?

All Government, Government aided and private schools from both rural and urban areas are invited to apply for the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar
The registration of schools would be done with the UDISE+ code of the school *
Schools will first complete the primary information section in the prescribed format and submit.

* If you do not have a UDISE+ code , download the Data Capture Format (DCF) and submit at Block / District / State level office to generate the UDISE+ code .

How to “Sign Up” & finalize “password” for applying in the SVP 2021-22?

School can participate in the SVP 2021-22 through web portal  https://www.swachhvidyalayapuraskar.com or by downloading the mobile app, “Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar” from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
School shall “Sign Up” by using UDISE+ code of the school. School will need to verify the prefilled information like; school’s UDISE+ code, name of school, State, district, block, village. After verification, school will fill up additional basic information like: address of the school, respondent’s name, designation, mobile, email. School will also choose a password and confirm password.

Post this, school will need to click the “sign-up” button.

A pop-up message “Sign Up Successful” will appear on screen and an email confirmation will be sent to the school for same.
Rating System for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2022
Schools will be awarded at the district, state, and national level based on an internationally recognized five-star rating system. Every school will get a certificate of participation showing the category-wise scores and overall rating of the school. This will help in promoting sustainable practices of improved water, sanitation and hygiene in schools. In order to create self-motivation and awareness about sanitation the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) was first instituted by the department of school education and literacy, in 2016-17, the official notice read.

Swachh Vidyalaya Parameters

Performance level based on the Compliance to the Swachh Vidyalaya parameters:-
Score

  • Excellent, Keep it Up – 90% to 100% of the Norms
  • Very Good – 75% to 89% adherence to the Norms
  • Good but there is scope for Improvement – 51% to 74% adherence to the Norms
  • Fair, Needs Improvement – 35% to 50% adherence to Norms
  • Poor, Needs considerable Improvement – Below 35% adherence to Norms
  • Five-star rating system
  • Schools will be awarded at the District, State and National level on the basis of an internationally recognized five-star rating system. School will also receive a certificate of participation, which will mention their category-wise scores and overall rating. It will thus help in promoting sustainable practices of improved Water, Sanitation & Hygiene across schools. This year, 40 schools will be selected under overall category, at the National level.
Award Money
Under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, award money has been increased this year from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 per school. Furthermore, 6 sub-category wise awards have been introduced for the first time. Schools will get an award money of Rs. 20,000/- per school, sub-category wise.


FAQ Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22

Who can participate?
All categories of schools, that is, government, government-aided and private schools in both rural and urban areas can participate in the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22.

How will the schools be assessed?
The participating schools will be assessed via an online portal and mobile app in 6 subcategories where the system will generate their overall score and rating automatically. These sub-categories are Water, Sanitation, Hand Washing with soap, Operation and Maintenance, behaviour change and capacity building and the newly added category on COVID-19 preparedness and response.

What will the winners receive?
A total of 40 schools will be selected under the overall category this year at the national level. The award money has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 per school under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. Additionally, 6 sub-category awards have been introduced for the first time and entail award money of Rs. 20,000/- per school.

My school does not have a UDISE+ code, how can our school apply for SVP?
Please download, “Data Capture Format (DCF)” from website. Fill it and contact District Education officer for support.

How can I view my school’s score?
Your school’s score will be sent to you after the last date of completing the survey. It would also be visible to you on your mobile app.
